Following sold-out shows and nationwide acclaim, master storyteller and musician Aindrias de Staic brings his celebrated storytelling show By the Light of the Silvery Moon to The Courthouse Arts Centre on Friday 16 October, joined by his exceptional Bardic Troupe featuring Brian Fleming and Aisling Lyons.
Premiering to a packed house at glór Theatre in 2023, By the Light of the Silvery Moon is now in its third triumphant run, captivating audiences across Ireland with its bold reimagining of the ancient Irish storytelling tradition. This Courthouse Arts Centre performance offers a perfect setting for the show’s intimate blend of spoken word, live music, and atmosphere.
Strongly influenced by the great bards of the past — Raifterí an Fhíle, Brian Merriman, and Aindrias MacCruitín — the wandering bard takes to the road with rustic fiddle in hand, spinning tales of lost villages, wandering musicians, folklore, myth, and outrageous otherworldly encounters. The performance combines fast-paced storytelling with live musical collaboration, creating a rich sonic landscape that heightens every tale.
Aindrias’ storytelling style is lively, witty, and theatrical, yet deeply rooted in the traditional seanchaí spirit of the west of Ireland. His stories are animated by Brian Fleming’s dynamic percussion — a pioneer of djembe in Ireland — and enriched by the haunting, ethereal harp of Aisling Lyons, widely regarded as one of Ireland’s finest harpists.
By the Light of the Silvery Moon is a powerful, immersive storytelling experience — raw, humorous, and spellbinding — recommended for adult audiences.
Expect an unforgettable evening of myth, music, and moonlit magic at The Courthouse Arts Centre.
