Travels Reimagined
Claudia Roche
Travels Reimagined by Claudia Roche is a journey through landscapes, interiors, still life, animals and people. As she moves through spaces she collects visual information, weaving it together in collages that reimagine the world, before committing them to canvas.
Claudia Roche’s life has been shaped by movement, place, and a deep connection to both travel and art. Growing up across mainland Europe, Malaysia, and England, she experienced seven relocations before the age of fifteen, when her family settled in Somerset. After completing her schooling in Dorset, she studied History at the University of Bristol, earning a BA (Hons).
Her path then took her to Italy, where she spent four years working with horses, before returning to England to divide her time between Gloucestershire and Somerset. In 2001 she moved to the Republic of Ireland, where she has now lived for 24 years—the longest she has remained in one place.
In 2018, Claudia completed a BA in Art, after twenty years of being an equine and human sports masseuse. Her affinity for art, however, has been lifelong. Surrounded from an early age by her parents’ passion for collecting modern art, she grew up with lithographs by Chagall, Picasso, John Piper, and paintings by other contemporary artists. This nurturing environment, combined with her own innate sensibility, continues to inform and inspire her artistic practice today.
