As Is…

An exhibition of works by Jessica Callan.

By looking at our phones, we live our lives with the captured image.

We live in a time, when the individual has access to others, and others have access to the individual.  The phone has many uses: vicarious living some of the time, at other times for direct communication, and used as a tool for visual documentation.

Some of the images have been altered by the artist, embellishing the narrative.  There is a play between the realities existing, the reality seen by the artist, the reality sent as communications, and the reality received.

An edited selection of images has been curated by the artist from their own working phone, no social media, creating a tiny glimpse of a visual world, ‘As Is…’, on display.

Callan studied Fine Art at NCAD, being originally from South County Dublin, and lived in the UK for many years, and now lives in Kerry.
